Last post of 2011 - Roll on 2012!!

Well I have finally moved into my new house and i have to say its has been the most stressful 2 months ever! I couldn't think about training or keeping my diet on track, it was just a nightmare! so it just came to a griding halt and now its Xmas I cant see me training until new years day (new start, diet ect...)

So whats the plans for 2012? Hopefully money available the races this year are:-

Lincoln 10k - Aim for a sub 40, or a sub 45 at least!

Dambuster Triathlon - Oly distance, open water, eeekk!

David Lloyd Triathlon - Wouldn't mind another crack at it, beat last years time.

Notts Marathon - Prep to see if I can go the running distance for the Ironman in 2013 - also one of my friends has bet me that I can't run the marathon!

Not as many races as I would have liked, but money is going to be tight with now having a mortgage and having to pay out more getting to training with the tri club (petrol bills ect due to moving) but on a plus note I now have a good long cycle to work every morning or the possibility of running a 10k before work :-), Swimming pool just around the corner, Open water center too.....things are looking good for 2012.

Sickness, More OW swimming and potential bike theft!

Past 2 weeks I have been suffering with stomach pains, wind and...well the sh*ts every now and again so training had come to a halt while I regained my strength back and my appetite to start eating again, the main culprit I think was my little lad, kids are germ factories and once they get a sickness bug....you know your definitely going to get it! So yeah took my hit and got back into my training, still not done any brick training so to speak off so best do a few sessions before Dambuster. 8 Weeks till Ironman...shit is getting real!!

With about 8 weeks to go, how are things shaping up?...Well.....my action plan, has gone totally out the window and its now just a case of getting what training I can get in, but most importantly the long slow workouts so I feel comfort in the distance and can at least finish the race...from being a case of getting a nice time its now a case of finishing and becoming an Ironman, even if i have to walk the marathon or crawl across the finish line!!! Swimming - This saturday while down at the lake a few of my tri buddies was down and going to do the 5 laps (A tad over the Ironman distance) as they are doing the Outlaw triathlon and they have even less time than me! So they said I might as well give it a go...this time I hired a Blue Seventy wetsuit as my Orca 3 is now starting to feel very tight and constrictive (Nooo I have not put on weight if anything lost a few lbs). Back to basics..

After getting my running up again only to start getting twinges after 8km, so stopped running. It's so frustrating knowing I have done 10k 2x a week at one point an now I can't! To be honest I have had running injuries ever since I got gaited for these overpronation trainers with heels as thick as a loaf of bread! So I have ditched them and got back to my vibrams to run in..barefoot running shoes, no cushion heels, arch support, just your foot and 3mm of errr padding... gloves for your feet I suppose :-). Now the downside to these is that my running millage is down to 1mile, Yup 1 mile! Because after that 1 mile your calf muscles are screaming...this is because you have taken away all the padding, shock absorbing casing of the trainer an relying on your own suspension...your calf muscles. So far I have done 2 miles this week with 4 days recovery in-between as boy I have serious DOMS. last time I used my vibrams I got up to 4 miles but stupidly did some fast runs on hills....bad...
